SF4

Not only is The Box Arena known for throwing such amazing SF4 events in the lovely sunny city of San Diego, but they will also be raising money for such an amazing cause. Gotta love those guys!

Box Arena Session Tournament this Thursday 4/22/10

Box Arena Sessions "Special Edition"

The Box Arena has decided to host a farewell Street Fighter 4 event! We know that there is a lot going on this weekend and with Super SF4 coming out poor old Vanilla will be left behind
That being said, we thought this would also be a great opportunity to help a loved community member in need. This event will be taking place on a Thursday and 100% of all buy ins + a charitable donation from The Box Arena Members + 10% of all sales made by Frubble Tea House during the event will be going directly to Chris Hu. MadCatz will be donating some merchandise for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners as well as some thing(s) to raffle. Please take note that there is no cash prizes to be won at this event and it is for fun and love of the community!

The above was quoted from their official post on the website. Click here to get more info!

Help MLG Get SSF4

by gootecks on March 12, 2010

in SF4

MLG co-founder Sundance is asking for your support to get SSF4 into the Pro Circuit. A lot of people are not fond of MLG for reasons that sometimes make sense but usually don’t. I’ve had several lengthy conversations with Sundance and can see that SSF4 in MLG makes things bigger for everyone.

SF4 in MLG will mean more prize money for players which means more players that play full-time and that means better competition overall. So you can say what you want about them, but the fact of the matter is that money talks and increases competition.

Sign the petition here, it only takes a sec!

Thanks to IGN.com for the Screenies

This isn’t even a rumor. Capcom is OFFICIALLY bringing SFIV to the iPhone and iPod touch as a push to promote the console release of Super Street Fighter IV. And according to IGN.com and confirmed by Capcom’s twitter feed, Street Fighter IV for the iPhone isn’t some cheesy port, ready to disappoint handheld gamers, but a beautiful translation of our favorite fighter that won’t disappoint.

Thanks to IGN.com for the Screenies

The iPhone version, even from the sceenshots, looks great. Multiplayer over Bluetooth too! Moneymatches have never been easier.

As for controls, IGN gives us some hope:

Now, hardcore gamers coming into Street Fighter IV with lofty expectations are understandably concerned about whether or not Capcom’s virtual pad will offer the same, precise controls needed to truly master the game. That’s fair because to competitive players, Street Fighter is a contest of exactness and finesse. To alleviate worries, Capcom offers a number of control configurations so players can find their favorite position, button transparency, and set-up. Street Fighter IV also includes a Dojo Mode for training, giving you ample opportunity to get used to the controls before heading into a tournament or into a multiplayer match.

With Apple’s launch of the iPad coming at the same time as Capcom’s release of SFIV, could we possibly expect a full version of Street Fighter IV for the iPad?

All I’m saying is that Madcatz better get on a Fightstick with a 30-Pin connector. Seriously, MarkMan, get on it.

igotnextTonight at 5PM PST/8PM EST is the premiere of Ian Cofino’s I Got Next documentary about the fighting game scene. It’s going to be streamed on UFragTV and afterwards there will be a Q&A session with myself, Mike Ross, iloveu and Ian.

For those of you not familiar with I Got Next, here are Ian’s words:

I Got Next is a free documentary on the fighting video game scene created by Ian Cofino (with much support from my friends, professors, and family). It originally started as my senior project at Purchase College, School of Art and Design, and has grown into something much bigger thanks to the dedicated and passionate players in the community. Originally envisioned as a short documentary, I Got Next has grown into a feature length production, which will see two releases, a short cut in June and a longer cut in the winter of ‘09.

It features Justin Wong, Mike Ross, iloveu and myself, with appearances by familiar faces in the community such as dogface, James Chen, Ed Ma and Alex Valle. It follows some of the regional SF4 tournaments that we’ve been in this year such as Sinsation Fight Club and Final Round XII.

If you can’t catch the premiere live, you’ll be able to download it later for free in a few days from the I Got Next site.

Watch it now after the jump…

Saturday June 27th is the very first all-girls Ladies of Street Fighter 4 tournament at Arcade Infinity.  It’s being put on by shoo, who organizes and runs the SF4 AI ranking battles.  Yes, you read right.  An all-girls Street Fighter 4 tournament!  Could be the next mud wrestling, who knows?  Either way, it’s going to be a lot of fun.  Here are some of the pics of a few of the girls:

Also, Get Your Tournament did some videos with some of the girls including Keno and his girlfriend Teresa, JayJay and her cousin UTJ (SBO Qualifier MVP!) and of course shoo and nomnomnaomi.

So come check it out tomorrow, I’ll be there.
