Tournaments

Get Your Tournament, the news organization that has consistently brought you the very best coverage and interviews of the competitive SF4 scene here on the West Coast is celebrating their 3-year anniversary tomorrow at Denjin Arcade:

As part of our upcoming 3-year anniversary next month, we’ll be hosting a two-game tournament on Dec. 19 at Denjin Arcade in Simi Valley.

The first game is Street Fighter IV; it’ll be a double-elimination tournament. Entry fee is $5, and we’ll do a 70/20/10 payout to the top three finishers. The other game will be Mario Kart Wii. The entry fee is $1 and it’s only a single-elimination tournament, with winner-take-all.

We’ll have a cake and some other goodies to share with everyone that comes to the tournament. You won’t go hungry if you show up early.

I’ll be there, see you guys there! RSVP on Facebook if you’re going.

In case you didn’t hear, Sweden’s Dreamhack Winter, the world’s largest digital festival, was holding a Street Fighter 4 tournament with a $7,000+ cash prize this weekend. It started yesterday and the semifinals just ended. I got 5th. FML.

Anyways, Top 4 is going to be broadcasted on svt, one of Sweden’s TV channels as well as on the DreamArena site. The remaining four players are:

  • Ryan Hart
  • Zak “the Beastman” Bennet
  • Singapore’s Dreamhack Qualifier (don’t know how to spell his handle)
  • Sweden’s #2 ranked player (don’t know how to spell his handle either sorry)

The tournament’s organizers asked me and my GTFO.tv partner in crime camiwins to do commentary on the matches so please check it out at 1:30PM EST today which is very soon.

Here are the links, one of them is bound to work:

Enjoy!

Congrats to you guys. They battles through a 64-man bracket and made it to the top. These top 6 are very good players, and definitely deserve there position. To first and second place, you should be contacting me via PM on the forums so that i can hook you up with your prizes. I would like to give a shout out to all of you guys who put your matches on youtube. If you are interested in watching some of the matches, go youtube search it. Free1up i know has a lot of videos up, and many others.

Huge shout out to my friend Pacifist. Without him the XBL brackets would have been nothing. he really made sure this tournament was not a piece of crap, so honors to him for making it work that much better.

It was a lot of fun hosting this tournament. And for all of you wondering when the next one will be, i have some info.

The next tournament will be split into 4 tournaments. We will have East Coast and West Coast, and XBL and PSN. All people in central, you will join whatever is closest. It will be hosted on one day (so each tournament will be held on a separate day.) Think after thanksgiving, and we will break before Christmas, and resume shortly after (if we even go into the holidays.)

So go over to our forums and vote for what coast and console first! It will be located in the tournament sections.
