OH YEAAAAH! The LA Riots stream may be the best place to watch matches live, but I’ll be covering the matches liveblog style here on gootecks.com.
Thanks to Coin-Op TV and Evo Energy Drink helping to bring you the LA Riots Street Fighter 4 tournament at the highest quality by TheStream.tv!
Hooters Bar Fight Tournament coming this Friday. West Coast Warzone coming in early April.
That’s right, you can check out all the grainy iPhone photos I can take and all the trash talk you can’t hear on TheStream.tv. Here’s your first sneaky stalker pic of the warm up room.
Pics & live updates after the jump…

UPDATE 2:12pm: Shizza and Keno up first. Alex Valle not going to make it but gootecks is taking his place. I’m about to post some studio pics so you can see how crowded it is in here.
Update 2:14:pm:

Update 2:21 pm: Shizza says he will NEVER give up using the pad. Stream is a bit delayed because “Alex Valley” isn’t showing.
Update 2:28pm: Here’s some studio shots to get a feel for what’s going on:

Update 2:34pm:

Update 2:41pm: Ken I vs Combofiend in the warm up room. Kai almost punched Jared the cameraman in the face.
Update 2:46 pm: There are so many electronic things I feel like my sperm count is lowering. Thank God for Evo Energy Drink, which boost sperm count apparently.
Update 2:50 pm: I love how Combojack always wears a blazer and hunches over. It’s his signature.
Update 2:52 pm: John Rog said Combofiend is the comboiest guy alive. Kai just beat Combojack and says he doesn’t even care.
Update 2:56 pm: Gotta love Ken I’s Hang Loose hat. Mike Ross says he’s playing Abel. Ross and gootecks up right now. Everyone is scared.
3:04 pm: The chairs look extra comfy. Jacket’s off, Ross playing Gief.

3:08 pm: It’s ridiculously cold in this piece. Cameraman Jared is telling Mike Ross and gootecks to stay seated… nothing happened. Jared’s pissed.
3:14 pm: John Rog and gootecks commentating

3:26 pm: The Control Room

3:31 pm: Main Event Set Up

3:35 pm: Warm Up Room

3:39 pm: Spectating

3:46 pm: Mike Ross’s jacket is hurting my eyes.
3:48 pm: gootecks vs Ken I. Ken I playing Akuma, and gootecks promised us an ass whooping if he did. Oh he did, and gootecks is administering punishment. Also, Black Nerd had his Mc Rib. Typical.
3:50 pm: No one is remembering to stay in their seats after the match. Cameraman Jared just gave Ken I the stink eye.
3:55 pm: The talking head guy keeps playing commercials made with GarageBand stock music. Mike Ross and Keno up now. Ross has the jacket back on. Guaranteed he’ll take it off.
4:00 pm Instead of taking off the jacket Ross switches to Gief. I hear button mashing. Is Sagat banned yet? 1 and 1, Keno sticks with Sagat. Mike says it’s a 12:2 matchup.
4:06 pm With both guys playing their secondary characters, Keno takes loser’s bracket match eliminating Mike Ross 2 -1. Shizza vs gootecks right now.
4:11 pm: If gootecks loses I think he’s going to throw the TE stick through the soundproofing foam. He won’t lose though so bummer. Wanted to see that.
4:14 pm: Kai keeps saying it’s gootecks time. gootecks loses first game to the clock. Two random ultras by Shizza so far. Both players running out the clock.
4:18 pm: Shizza throw the third random Ultra and loses 1st match. “The best part of waking up!” -Kai
4:21 pm: Shizza missed perfect opportunity for wake up Ultra as pointed out by Mike Ross.
4:23 pm: gootecks loses “by a pube” overheard in the spectating lounge by host of The RadNerd Show. Random Ultra wins Shizza the match. Shizza jumps up and screamed “That’s Inner City, Dog!” (Dawg?)
4:25 pm: Keno and Shizza up now. I’m pretty sure the loser of this match takes home a MadCatz Stick. I know Shizza needs one. People keep calling that cat “Pad Warrior Princess.”
4:35 pm: Kai just called the spectators lame for being here. He hurt three people’s feelings. Rolling up to this place, I thought I was going to lose my kidneys. Shady.
4:37 pm: Combofiend and Kai up now.
4:39 pm: Combofiend Interview

4:43 pm: Kai pulls a perfect in 1st game but still loses. Kai loses 2nd game too. Combofiend is saying hurtful words in the interview. Keno vs Kai in Loser’s Finals.
4:58 pm: John Rog is apparently in the Overpass stage. Keno takes Loser’s finals. Kai wins a Round Two TE Stick and never wants to play Keno again.
5:02 pm: Grand finals happening now. Keno has to win 2 sets of 3 out of 5.
5:04 pm: Block string after block string from Keno. “Now we’re playing the game!” -Mike Ross. Combofiend takes 1st game.
5:05 pm: Combofiend takes game 2. Keno switches to Sagat.
5:09 pm: Combofiend takes it in 3 straight!

Interviewing the Champion.

5:16 pm: Congratulations Combofiend! Such domination on a high quality stream. Get that Torrent!

for the record, this stream whooped the shit out of the nec stream. i go to the nec stream and i dont know what the fuck is goin on. you guys were so organized and professional with your bracket graphics, and names and everything that it made it way more exciting and fun to watch. the interviews were a little weird, since the players didnt feel to comfortable, and a mic near the players would have been nice so you could hear all the trash that was being talked during matches. despite that…do more streams like this! this was just as fun as watching the laker game last night!
Excellent stream and great tournament. The quality of the stream was amazing, and presentation was top notch. Rog / Gootecks/ and Cammy are great on commentary. Good job guys, I was a little dissapointed that Valle and Ed ma no showed, but it’s all good, thanks to gootecks. Hope to see a L.A Riots pt2 soon!
great stream
tuff break gootecks, get ‘em next time.
And I thought my gief needed help! MR needs to learn empty jump ULTRA.
Stream was fucking insane! You did an awesome jub Ryan but I seriously think you should work on your post-game behaviour. I understand the feeling of losing and can sympathize with your situation but it really hurt the quality of the program. If you want people to take this stuff seriously you need to be able to switch that shit of bro. That being said, this was fucking amazing! Best I’ve seen yet Japanese/Korean shows counted. There was a mention of a torrent, anybody have a link please?
It’s always great to see Abel getting some tourney play–regardless of how poor he does. I missed the stream, but am eager for the torrent. Blast us the link when you can. Thanks =]
Great stream, shame it was on at the same time as NECX. Would have gotten way more viewers otherwise.
damn where’s the torrent mentioned?
thx all who watched or participated – it was a blast! I posted some more photos here – http://coin-op.tv/?p=1979
gota get that torrent!!!
missed the whole thing, busy weekend, torrent would be really nice!
Yes need a torrent of that webcast! Was at another tourney so I didn’t get to see it!
you can catch the tournament via archival footage at the website: http://www.justin.tv/thestreamdottv/archive# check out December 5th about 2:00 give or take a couple of minutes.
@DurpMcSchnurp
Thanks for the feedback, TBH it’s all part of the show. If I’m THAT pissed about losing to Shizza, then that gives him more credibility and hype for LA Riots 2, so ultimately the more push I give him, the more it benefits the both of us in the longrun.
Yeah I hear you man and I understand that the drive to win can make things difficult if something “unexpected” happens. =) However, from a strictly “production-value” point of view I feel like the program lost a lot after your fight with Shizza. The commentating sort of stuttered (at least initially) and I felt there was an uncomfortable vibe in the studio. It doesn’t really matter anyway since this was the best shit I’ve seen yet. We need more streams like this, keep up the fantastic work! =)
so wuttup with that torrent??
y torrent would be nice. thanks!
Shizza knows his shit, even if he does use the pad. Props to the whole crew for a well executed stream. It really shows that you guys put the time do everything right. Runing a tourney and a stream must make the work load ridiculous. Most people dont realize that. Much respect.
