Side note: Hope you guys like the new layout, I think it’s a lot more functional. Also, there is now album art for the podcast! If you think you can do better than me (which I’m sure you can), make one and send it to me. If it’s good, I’ll use it next time!
Super technical show this time with Ed Ma and Ken I. We spend most of the show talking about frame data from the Street Fighter 4 Master Guide. So if you’ve been wondering why certain moves beat other moves when it looks like they shouldn’t, this is the show for you. Ed has the guide in hand and there’s a lot of really useful frame data and situations that we talk about.
Topics covered:
- What is frame advantage?
- How is frame data useful?
- Ken’s kara throw set up utilizing frame advantage
- P-Dash/Kara Focus Dash
- Being nice to new players
- Canceling EX moves into Ultras?

Appreciate the shout-out
awesome !
Thx man
You really should allow us to donate. You should get at least a few buck out of this to stay motivated^^.. and well I guess I feel guilty since I found out about those podcasts after the plane tickets for SBO campaign was over so I couldn’t donate
.
Apart from all the great content your show has it is now much more fun watching US ranbats and tourney vids, as now in many more cases I have a face (or at least a voice^^) that connects to the name^^.
What I’d like to hear about on your show is the different mindsets you go trough in a match and in which situations they will change.. or just in general when it is time to change your play style or when your opponent is forced to change his or at least is likely to.. and well I guess basically anything on adaptability^^.
Well for players I’d like to have interviewed.. I have no idea how much of an option they are as I’m not too deep in the US scene and don’t really know where they live or how accessible they are (I’m from Germany):
When I started with Fighting Games I read lots of the James Chen FAQs just to get ideas how a fighting game engine worked. Then I really liked the Domination 101 articles on SRK that Seth Killian wrote. Then well.. I’d like to hear Alex Valle on your show but I guess you already thought of him^^.
I just came across these podcasts, really great information in this one. All this talk of the new possibilities in the game has me really hyped to play again. I was out of the loop for the past 3 weeks while everyone got significantly better haha. Doing that pretzel dash is going to be priority #1.
virtuafighter.com has a decent write up on how frames work in VF[1] – although different to SFIV, the basics are pretty much the same and certainly useful for anyone learning about frame analysis.
Thanks a bunch for the site, podcasts, and videos – really great stuff; keep it up.

WOW! I was right. I discovered that you can cancel out of a block stun animation(right when the game came out. I even mentioned it to some players wich didn’t believe me)after certain hits by frame! so blocks are cancelble! and this book proves it! nice job on the pod!
