Less is more.  See how long you can go in the first round without hitting a button.  Try walking yourself into the corner to improve your footsies and defense.  Then put them in a situation where they are tempted to jump then EX Soul Throw them into the corner.  Chances are you will have Ultra at that point and can do a mixup or just keep them in the corner.
