Really great weekend for 3s this weekend! Street Fighter 4 event on Friday, SBO quals on Saturday, Evo West on Sunday, we were busy!
First impressions of Street Fighter 4 are that it is the polar opposite of 3rd Strike. The game feels limited because I think the sprites are too large to move around with flexibility. Everything seems really rigid. Although it may be way too early to tell since the whole Focus system will take a while to get mastered. I also met a cool guy wearing an El Fuerte mask by the name of BigMex, who has a blog on 1up.com. He made a cool blog post about what was at the event as well as a plug for this site to raise money for the tickets.
SBO quals were really exciting. Congratulations to Team Family: Pyrolee, Ken I and Kai for beating Team Tiger Heat: Amir, 5 Star and Emphy. If you weren’t lucky enough to be there to witness the madness, videos should be up later this week. It was NUTS!
Evo west was also really exciting. Solid, although relatively small turnout of only about 34 people, but lots of big names we hadn’t seen in awhile played including Amir, Emphy, Mike Watson and Alex Valle. Here is Top 8:
